Why is it?

That my roommate gets to go to sleep, and I have to stay up doing homework? Oh I know, its because I chose to do something where I get to have fun every day.

A real question though, am I the only one who feels like by thinking or incubating on an idea you come up with your best work? (compared to doing more quick models that don't feel as personal?)

Reflections on 'Typeface'

I honestly enjoyed this movie. I am a dork. It made me REALLY want to take a letterpress class if not for anything other than to make big ampersands on paper in fun colors.
& <-- Like that, but with numbers overlaying it.
I do think its sad that wood type is fading out, seeing how passionate these people where about an arguably obsolete trade kind of broke my heart. The movie definitely succeeded in its goal to create awareness of letterpress and the Wisconsin ''Hamilton Wood Type Museum" I really want to visit it.
I also want to get into letterpress now. I WILL be taking it with Linda in the summer (if its offered)

To me who are you?

Adrian Frutiger, a typeface designer and a normal person. An artist. Switzerland, the son of a weaver by the age of 16 was working as a printer's apprentice near his home town. An escapist from the formal. He truly turned clear/concise letterforms into beautiful manipulations of the formality that we are all used to into 'truth' if truth could be conveyed in a typeface. He analyzed how type shape and geometry can effect human emotions in his book "Geometry of Feelings". He understood the effects of design on the mind, and he analyzed it and turned it into works that other designers can use to more effectively communicate thought, feeling, and emotion. He truly was a frontiersman in the world of type design. An educator a student a master and a wordsmith, that is Adrian Frutiger. (In a nutshell)

Univers, what makes it so special you may ask? Well I will tell you, it is clear concise and powerful. It stays clean while not being 'standard' by any means. The univers grid shows different widths and thicknesses of the font so that a designer can easily and effectively choose what message s/he wants to convey with his font choice

Is a bit confused

He remembers Tad saying we should have the drawings done for Thursday, but on the schedule it says that is the homework for after thursday... What to do? What to do?
